The College of Health Solutions (CHS) at Arizona State University is seeking a full-time lecturer for an academic (9- month) position in the Healthy Lifestyles and Fitness Science degree to teach courses such as undergraduate Changing Health Behaviors, Health and Wellness Coaching, Fitness for Life and other related College of Health Solutions courses. Faculty duties include teaching, mostly online, (80%, equivalent to 12 credits per semester-typically four courses) and 20% service. Applicants must present evidence of teaching experience and a strong commitment to high quality teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants must be able to provide service to the program and university, as well as to the community and profession.

This is a non-tenure track teaching position. This is a fixed-term appointment that is renewable annually.  Subsequent one-year appointments may be offered, under the same terms and conditions, at the discretion of the college and university.

This position will also have the opportunity to work with faculty across the college to assist with the college’s Grand Challenges, which are some of the most complex and difficult health challenges facing Arizona. Each Grand Challenge is huge in scope and requires translational research, transformative collaboration and innovation. The college’s Grand Challenges are the following: promoting healthy lifestyles, improving mental health, and reducing barriers to health and health care. We are particularly interested in making an impact on populations with significant health disparities, such as veterans and people experiencing homelessness.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Nutrition, Nursing, Exercise Science, Population Health, Health Education, or other related disciplines
  • National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC)
  • Two (2) or more years of college teaching experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Expertise in developing and teaching undergraduate courses (in-person, hybrid, or online)
  • Evidence of excellence in classroom instruction and/or curricular innovation
  • Knowledge of professional associations in the field, accreditation processes, and/or experience in healthcare
  • Evidence of collaborative work within an interdisciplinary team that includes staff, faculty, students, clinicians, and community partners
